Anthony & Sylvan Pools Announces Opening of New Division in San Antonio, TX

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

Anthony & Sylvan Pools Corporation, one of the largest pool builders in the country, announced today at the Atlantic City Pool & Spa Show that it is opening a new division in San Antonio, expanding its footprint in Texas into one of the fastest growing markets in the country.

The company has formed a strategic alliance with Anderson Pools and Patios, run by long-time pool builder Steven Anderson. Anthony & Sylvan will assume Anderson Pools’ existing location at 33010 N. Highway 281 in Bulverde and rebrand it as Anthony & Sylvan. Anderson will join Anthony & Sylvan’s management team in Texas, headed by Texas General Manager Bob Van Horn.

Stuart D. Neidus, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Anthony & Sylvan, said: “We are very excited about our formal entry into San Antonio, a market we have been looking at for some time and view as a natural fit with our substantial operations in Houston and Austin. This expansion is good news for San Antonio and beyond. With the economy beginning to rebound, we are looking forward to a robust pool-building season and an acceleration of our growing market share nationally.”

Neidus said Anderson’s reputation in San Antonio is well-known.

“Steve’s in-depth knowledge of the San Antonio market along with his excellent reputation and 20 years of experience in the field impressed us. But what we really admire is his commitment to quality pool-building and outstanding customer service, two hallmarks of Anthony & Sylvan, as well.”

Anderson said he was proud to be joining forces with Anthony & Sylvan.

“I’m flattered to be joining the national leader in pool building,” he said. “The strategic alliance will mean that more San Antonio residents can realize their dreams of enjoying their own pool, secure in building a relationship with a company that has built over 370,000 pools in its 66 year history.”

Anthony & Sylvan is now taking pool orders for 2012 in all the markets it serves, including San Antonio.

Be Hurricane Ready!

Friday, August 26th, 2011
  • Cover all of your home’s windows with pre-cut ply wood or hurricane shutters to protect your windows from high winds.
  • Plan to bring in all outdoor furniture, decorations, garbage cans and anything else that is not tied down.
  • Keep all trees and shrubs well trimmed so they are more wind resistant.
  • Secure your home by closing shutters, and securing outdoor objects or bringing them inside.
  • Turn off utilities as instructed. Otherwise, turn the refrigerator thermostat to its coldest setting and keep its doors closed.
  • Turn off propane tanks.
  • Install a generator for emergencies
  • Reinforce your garage doors; if wind enters a garage, it can cause dangerous and expensive structural damage.
  • Ensure a supply of water for sanitary purposes such as cleaning and flushing toilets. Fill the bathtub and other large containers with water.

Swimming Pool Deck Types

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Your swimming pool deck is an important part of your backyard landscape. Choosing a style that fits with the elements of your yard can be challenging yet satisfying once in place. There are several types of surface materials to choose from so you should be able to find the type of deck that fits your design.

Concrete – The most common surface is inexpensive and easy to match other materials that may surround your pool. It comes in a variety of colors, smooth finishes, stamped or seeded.

Natural Stone – This type is great for creating a natural look around your pool. It comes in sandstone, granite and marble which creates a natural feel to the landscape.

Brick – Another common material for pool decks, it comes in many colors and lasts many years. The downside is brick absorbs sunlight therefore can become very hot. A hot surface can be an uncomfortable surface to walk and sunbath on.

There so many types to choose from.  Find one that is economical and versatile for your needs. Choose a style that fits with the rest of the elements in your yard and creates a unified look and feel for the space.

Another Happy Houston Pool Owner!

A recent Anthony & Sylvan client shared their satisfaction:

To all of the Anthony Sylvan Team,

This is a dream come true. They sprayed the plaster today. I can’t believe how beautiful it is. I made imaginary snow angels in the bottom until the water crept up. I think I will be up all night watching it fill with water. I have the most beautiful pool ever. More than that, I have a whole bunch of new friends. You are all super people. Bill you are great as a designer. You got it all right and even things I didn’t think about. Amy, you have been a doll to work with. I really appreciate all the answers you had. Mike, you are a fantastic person and a great leader for all of those hard-working crews. You’re number 1 in a lot of ways.

You are all always invited to come out here to swim, shoot, have a glass or two of a good wine, let the kids romp and play or whatever makes you happy. We are always ready for a party.
