Ways to Save Money for Pool Owners

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Owning and maintaining a swimming pool can be very costly. The following are some money saving tips for residential pool owners.

- Run the filter during off peak times. Find out what times electricity is less expensive from your local electric company.

- Invest in a variable speed pump. This type of pump can be programmed to run at minimum speed required for different tasks.

- Maintain chemical balance. Keep your pool filter clean and pool chemicals balanced.

- During colder months, reduce filter run times when your pool is staying clean and being used less.

Optimum Swimming Pool Filter Operation

Most pool owners use a timer to run their filtration system at various times throughout the day. Although running the filtration system 24 hours a day is most beneficial for maintaining clean and clear water, running the system at least 12 hours a day will also work. However, if the system is only run for 12 hours, we recommend that it be run during the daylight hours. Continuously run your filter for 12 hours,  since starting and stopping the pump motor frequently can have an adverse affect on the motor and increasing the need for repairs.

3.Pool Cleaners – pool cleaners save owners from tedious hand scrubbing and brushing.

4.Pool Chemicals – includes chlorine, cyanuric acid, pool shock, bromine, and algaecide, these maintain the quality and sanitation of your pool water.

5.Pool Covers – protect your pool from rain, snow, debris and UV rays and keep it from evaporating.
